Assessment Procedures

Students will be assessed for understanding of course content in a variety of ways. Informal evaluation will come in the form of classroom participation. Students will be expected to demonstrate active participation in class discussions and debates and maintain an high level of preparedness for class including completing work on time and bringing necessary materials to class everyday. Daily formal evaluations will be given in the form of homework and classwork. A quarterly research project or paper will be used to complement the course content and assess the students' research, writing, and presentation skills. Periodic quizzes and unit exams will constitute the bulk of the evaluative process. Quiz questions will be short answer, fill in the blank, matching and some multiple choice. Unit exams will follow the same format as quizzes but have more questions, and include an essay section. Each assessment type will be valued as follows:

Class Participation 10%
Homework/Classwork 20%
Quarterly Project 20%
Quizzes 25%
Exams 25%

Welcome students and parents to Eleventh Grade United States History.  I hope you are looking forward to an exciting year studying our fine nation's history.  Hopefully, you will find the class rewarding and learn a little bit about yourself along the way.
